Summer is the perfect time to connect with nature and explore outdoors!

Lake Forest Open Lands’ programs encourage children to discover the wonders of the natural world while having fun outside.

As part of the Lake Forest city-wide Native Voices initiative, each of our summer programs incorporate exploration of three of the four essential elements of life: Land, Water and Air.

  • Story Time Adventure​

  • Little Explorers
    • Preschoolers | Tuesday-Friday, May 30-June 2 | 9:00-11:00 a.m.
       
  • Nature Detectives
    • ​5-6 year olds | Monday-Thursday, July 10-13 | 9:00-11:30 a.m.
    • 7-9 year olds | Monday-Thursday, June 12-15 | 9:00-11:30 a.m.
       
  • Inspired by Nature
    • ​6-8 year olds | Monday-Thursday, June 26-29 | 9:00-11:30 a.m.
       
  • Summer Birding
    • 6-8 year olds | Monday-Thursday, July 24-27 | 9:00-11:30 a.m.
       
  • Native American Camp
    • ​Ages, times and cost TBD | Monday-Friday, August 7-11
       
  • Specialist Days: A privilege for our older environmental crew! 
    • Sign up for a one or two day immersion into a specific topic of natural interest.
    • 9-12 year olds | Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer | 9:00 a.m.-noon​

Summer Program Refund/Cancellation Terms and Conditions
Advance registration required. If you are unable to attend a summer program for any reason, advance notice to Julia Lunn at jlunn@lfola.org is required and refunds are issued as follows:

  • Cancel 6 weeks prior to program start date: Full refund
  • Cancel up to 3 weeks prior to program start date: 50% refund
  • Cancel after 3 weeks prior to program start date: No refund

Lake Forest Open Lands reserves the right to cancel a program with inadequate enrollment 2 weeks prior to the program start date. Full refunds will be issued in this case.
